The first is Heinrich Kircher’s commentary on the Book of Revelation “Prophetia Apocalyptica S. Joannis Apostoli: Accurate, breviter, & clare Explanata” in a first edition printed in Cologne in 1676. It contains both copper titles and a title page in red and black. The author (1608 – 1676) was a Jesuit born in Neuss and he worked as a teacher of rhetoric in San Sebastian (Spain), as a preacher in Cologne, as head of the Collegium in St. Goar as well as a chaplain in Copenhagen. The second text is a pre-bound edition of the homiletic text “Evangelistarum quaternio, seu evangelicae historiae dispositio” by the Jesuit Johannes Hajus, here as a first edition printed in Douai in 1607. The author was a Jesuit born in Hainaut, he taught philosophy and theology in Leuven and Douai (here as rector of the college) and died in 1614. Title page has decorative borders portaying the four evangelists. — Leather binding of the 18th c. Ex-library book with stamp inside and catalogue no. on spine. Capitals and outer joints damaged, covers and some margins worm-eaten. Boards have moderate signs of storage and age. Paper considerably browned in some areas. Type area otherwise clean and without markings. Engravings partly covered by stamps, otherwise in very good condition. atx 8°Hom115
