Anthology of two Italian texts from the 16th century: The first is “In libros Aristotelis de humano intellectu” by Giulio Castellani (1528 – 1586) in EA 1567 (USTC 819369), a rare commentary on Aristotle. The author was an Italian theologian, philosopher and, among other things, held the Chair of Philosophy at the Sapienza University in Rome. The second is “De Gloria libri V”, which is a discussion of Cicero’s work by the Portuguese bishop and historian Jeronio Osorio (1506 – 1580). It was first published in 1549 and is reprinted here in its Florentine edition of 1552 (USTC 845587). Pigskin of the time over wooden boards. Clasps preserved but shortened. Ex-library book with stamp inside and catalogue no. on spine. Joints broken inside, book block tight. Paper darkened with age and occasional foxing. Some markingsand marginalia in handwriting, text otherwise still in very good condition. atx 8°Philos11
