This edition was published under a new title in Lyon in 1588 and was edited by the French Jesuit, historian and playwright Pierre Matthieu (1563 – 1621). 2 volumes, both complete. Not identical to USTC 203402 (vol. 2 has the title page of the 1588 edition, but collation and colophon of the first Lyon edition of 1587, USTC 142455). Contemporary vellum. Ex-library book with stamp inside and catalogue no. on spine. Covers somewhat darkened and stained, a few pages damaged at margins. Pages darkened with age.
